MAH: Observatory: I think I was focussed on two of the young ladies in this picture. Sue Sager (white sweater holding book) and Terri Orr (white jacket facing camera.)
JAB: Palomar Jr. College, San Marcos. Monika Fruehwirth left of Terri Orr. Mt. Whitney in the distance. Looks like a Physics class field trip, but I don't remember being there.

MAH: Seaton trailer stuck in sand - isn't that Matt Kelley next to Gary Clayton at left?
JAB: Loading or unloading? Gary Clayton, Matt Kelley, Jeff Bytof, Jon Kelley (with box), Unknown person reaching into trailer, Bernstein (with green pack?), Hightower. Clayton, Kessler, Horton, Kelley and Bytof hiked up the Diagonal Ridge on this field trip.

JAB: Bytof, Bret Seaton and 4+ "unknowns".

JAB: Filet mignon?

TLK: 1972_02_10___Feb___Bret_Seaton_doing.jpg
JAB: Filename was truncated during download from Yahoo.
GBS: The walking sleeping bag was Bret, but they used to call him the "Walking Cigarette Butt". In college (USC), he would actually go to Halloween parties dressed as the "Walking Cigarette Butt" wearing the sleeping bag. Ya, I'd recognize that cigarette butt anywhere.
JAB: There's a controversy over the actual appellation used at the time of the field trip. The matter is under investigation.

JAB: Marian McDorman on the right.

TLK: 1972_05_01___May___Tom_launches__Finless_Wonder__v2_near_Karge_school_van_with_Bret_Seaton_looking_on.jpg
JAB: Kessler, Bret Seaton in driver's seat, and Mr. Karge (recognized the hat) in the back. Was this the trip in May or June 1972 I skipped?

TLK: _05_02___May___Bret_Seaton_and_others_survey_the_sad_remains_of_one_of_Tom_s_rockets___Finless_Wonder_v2___after_it_took_the_launch_pad_into_flight.jpg
JAB: Filename was truncated during download from Yahoo. Whose blue van? Unknown persons on the left and standing in the van. The guy in the white T-shirt seems familiar (a teacher named "Bauer" comes to mind). Was the bearded guy from the Radio Observatory?

JAB: April 1972? I don't list a trip in May 72. Big nose cone - Camroc or Cineroc?
TLK: That is just the standard payload carrier nose cone. Wade never got in deep enough for Camroc's or Cineroc's - both of which I managed to destroy upon impact!

TLK: 1972_05_09___May___Brett_Seaton_and_Jon_Kelley_.jpg
MAH: Doesn't Bret Seaton spell his name with one "t"?
JAB: I think one "t". Probably Duncan MacEwing behind Bret.
TLK: Yes, "Brett" is supposed to have only one "t"

TLK: 1972_05_10___Large_white_multiple_engine_rocket_lifts_off_with_Dave_Hightower_in_distance_using_movie_camera.jpg
JAB: Glenn MacIsaac(?), unknown in background, Ted Janssen(?) with camera, Hightower, Morton Gjerde on car trunk, unknown in car.

MAH: Jeff and I stuck our tongues "out" not "our".
JAB: Would this have been the MacEwing's truck? One trip we rode in the back of it all the way to the desert. Or was this a run to Borrego from Camp to stock up on Root Beer at A&W?
TLK: Yes, this was MacEwing's 4-wheel drive truck. This was probably on the drive to Coyote Creek

TLK: 1972_09_02___Sept___Young_lady_with_two_other_gents_along_desert_road.jpg
JAB: Don't know these people. College geology students? Is that the flank of Coyote Mtn. in the background? Looks like the tailgate of MacEwing's truck in the foreground.

TLK: 1972_09_03___Sept___Jeff_Bytoff_and_group_at_beginning_of_Toro_Valley_hike.jpg
JAB: Bytof, Janssen, Gary Seaton, Duncan MacEwing, Jon Kelley and Kessler hiking up Coyote Creek. That trip we also attempted to climb Coyote Mtn.

JAB: Who took the picture?
TLK: I probably took the picture.

TLK: 1972_09_07___Sept___Jon_Kelley_with_firewood_near_top_of_Coyote_Peak.jpg

JAB: Note the trees of Clark Well Camp, extreme left at the base of the mountains across the valley.

TLK: 1972_00_01___Toro_Valley_hike_.jpg
JAB: The hike to the "Indian Ruins", north up Rockhouse Canyon and onto the Toro Peak alluvial fan, was Feb. 8-9, 1973. We (Gary Seaton, Bernstein, Bytof, Horton) actually got school permission to leave early Thursday morning in advance of the main group. In the picture above, Bernstein is seen wearing the green backpack, and Bytof is on the rock. This is about the spot where we camped that night, looking north.

TLK: 1972_00_02___Toro_Valley_hike___Jeff_in_old_ruins.jpg
JAB: Also Feb 8, 1973. Found lots of broken pottery and animal bones in the area. The entrance to Rockhouse Canyon is seen in the distance, looking south.

TLK: 1973_02_03___Toro_Valley_Hike___Jeff_in_old_ruin_where_he_found_lots_of_broken_pottery_and_animal_bones.jpg
JAB: I arranged pieces of broken pottery found in this low-walled structure on the rock my left foot is on.

TLK: 1973_03_03___March___Toro_Peak___Dave_Hightower_and_Jeff_Bytof_watch_as_others_play_in_snow.jpg
JAB: Gary Seaton to Hightower's right. I might be in the distance. Toro Peak hike was in April 1973. Then we drove down to Clark Well and Horton drove over the dune:
